Arc welding robot position confirmation

By continuously measuring the position of the robot arm we can guarantee the quality of a weld.

The challenge

The customer faced the problem of irregular distributed and lack of welding strength due to the difference of welding conditions. Consequently an increase of re-work arose.

Required accuracy :

  • Tolerance: +/-100 micro meter
  • Resolution: +/-10 micro meter

The solution

The welding condition can be confirmed by measuring the moving position of the arc welding robot. A CMOS laser displacement sensor is used. The displacement of the arc welding robot is measured by fixing the sensor head near the welding point.

Added value

Product quality has stabilized and productivity has improved due to the continuous check of welding condition with the logging function of "Smart Monitor Zero".
